Hello! I've never written a blog before, but as the saying goes: There is a first for everything!
At 32 years young, or 25 with 7 years experience, I consider myself an adventurous soul with a yearning to learn. I enjoy new experiences, and old ones, on my own or with friends and family. Life is made up of experiences so I'm ensuring that I can get in as many as possible! I am a firm believer that you attract what you want out of life and therefor consider myself a pretty positive person, always assuming the best, and very optimistic. Affirmations daily, meditation, exercise, and good food always help too!
So what can I expect out of Steemit?? I'm hoping to share stories of life experiences as well use it for knowledge sharing. Passions of mine include:
-family and friends
-nature and gardening
-clean eating and healthy foods
-holistic healing
-crafting and home decor
-travel
-being active outdoors (quadding, snowboarding, camping)
-exercise
-overall awareness
Here's a little background on me... I was 17 when I got pregnant with my first child. Definitely one of the hardest times of my life but that we'll save for another blog. Ultimately it comes down to: best 'mistake' I ever made. My baby is now 14 years old and I can honestly say that I would never have become the woman I am today if it weren't for him. He inspired me to want to do something great with my life, despite negativity from some. I wanted to be able to provide a good life for him, so with the support of my amazing mother and step-father, I graduated high school then went on to post-secondary to become a Medical Laboratory Technologist.
I love my job. It is extremely specialized but very interesting! It has given me an incredible wealth of knowledge on how the human body works, as well as disease processes. Most medical professionals are considered 'westernized' regarding health care but I prefer to practice a natural, holistic approach in my own life. I believe in eating clean, and organic as much as possible. You are what you eat!
Staying active. So important. Exercise has been my latest passion... I started running in January, completed my first 5km run in the Rocky Mountains (most beautiful view EVER!) and have been doing HIIT training and weight training. As I have a thyroid issue, weight loss doesn't come easily, but I'm not in a rush! It's a lifestyle. I feel healthy, strong, and beautiful, so really don't have much to complain about! Plus I'm only trying to lose 10-15 lbs so am ok with taking my time, so long as I'm doing it right!
Plants and gardening are another passion that I tend to everyday. Living in Alberta, Canada only allows me a couple months a year of outdoor gardening so I also have indoor plants as well as hydroponic systems. My decorative indoor plants put a smile on my face each and every day, I love seeing new blooms and watching them grow :) My garden towers (hydroponic systems), allow me to grow organic foods indoors all year long saving me $$ at the grocery store, plus they are picked fresh whenever I need them... nothing beats the taste of fresh!
I married 6 years ago, an amazing man who I love dearly. He is the messiest person I know, which doesn't co-inside well with my need to have a tidy house, but here is a secret I will share: You need to learn to pick your battles. I decided long ago that cleaning up after him was worth it, no one is perfect, including myself. He is an amazing father and husband, emotionally supportive and loyal... so what's a few dirty dishes and laundry laying around?? Plus, important for a successful relationship: I trust him. And it's reciprocated. It's a blessing I am grateful for every single day.
So... I would love to share more on the topics I loosely covered... would anyone be interested in reading and sharing? If so let me know!
Danielle
