Oh this is a good one.
let us start with the United States government has not honored a single treaty that is made with an indigenous tribe.
Add in all the massacres under a flag of peace?
Biological warfare in the hands of smallpox infectious blankets knowingly given to native tribes.
The massive amount of crimes committed and blamed on innocent people while the actual perpetrators continue to commit crimes.
Add in the wonderful amount of corruption from the bureau of Indian affairs. Rampant theft of food blankets and financial means.
Through decades of poor diet do to US department of agriculture commodities. which two most people on the reservation with no jobs and no economic futures was the only thing keeping them from starvation.
native American reservations are still classified as prisoner of war camps by the United States army.
Tribal governments are completely controlled by federal interest. If the drive decided to do something like medical marijuana or even growing hemp for fiber. Federal interest would make sure to stop any programs for economic success unless they were approved.
Tribal governments have been set up to be excessively corrupt and always to control the population.
I would counter this argument about removing reservations by simply saying by all means we would love for that stolen land to be returned.
If you guys want to pay for the land by all means let's work out an agreement.
We could always use the 1806 treaty...
Although there are quite a few earlier historical treaties were honored. By all means let's have a court find out what's right. Let alone damages to indigenous people. I can also add in the nuclear weapons testing in the south Pacific ocean bikini atoll?
That is another situation that needs to be contained for sure.
But how about the uranium mines on the native American reservations?
We have many issues by neglecting the heritage of the nation. Let alone preservation of what remains.
The diseases brought by settlers killed 99% of the population. And all the culture and knowledge.
What remains is a fragment of the past. One that played way more than what we believe now.
It is indeed a hideous nightmare sir ganjafarmer, the past treatment. I didn't know that reservations are still classified as prisoner of war camps!
But no tribes would want the reservations to be abolished would they? That would mean giving up their heritage and any amount of control they have of their lives.

No free man would give up his sovereignty willingly. And that what these supposedly are the reservations are sovereign. But forced to bow to state and federal pressure and politics every time.
That's why the hemp debate. The tribes tried to grow hemp for decades and we're raided each time.
Another California tribe legalized medical marijuana. Grew it and was raised by the sea and federal government for producing medicine to heal the elders and sick of the tribe.
How's that.... For thanks giving facts.
And Thanksgiving #2 was a massacre. English and Dutch Murdered all the men and burned women and kids alive.

Well now with legalization the tribes will finally be able to grow hemp now right?

It says in the federal farm bill the tribes can grow hemp even in a state that has prohibited cannabis. And as well states like Idaho had to pass executive orders to allow hemp. They already have one huge losing lawsuit on it ..
Times are changing...
