His first ever fish is a beautiful Rainbow Trout

in fishing •  6 years ago  (edited)

Finally took the time to go up to Bear Lake, 3 miles away, to fish with the boys. Solid hour and a half and they really were hitting about 3pm. I landed a little perch but had to keep it since it swallowed the hook but then I got the nice 12 inch Rainbow. We kept fishing and I had just cast out when he started shouting that he thought he had a fish, and he did. I set my rod against a tree and helped him land his first fish, a nice 10 inch Rainbow. I was getting him set back up when I saw my pole go and ran over to reel in another 9 inch Rainbow.

I am really happy we went and that both boys did well and behaved nicely. I have dinner for the night and they had a good time at the lake.

My first fish caught too. But all the way over in Australia back in the mid eighties.

My first was Rainbows in the Sierras where I grew up fishing the streams and rivers. I have a picture hanging over me right now of my father and I with a fish at a place called Granite Creek in the high Sierras, me with my stick for a pole and some line with a hook. About the same size fish as the one today. Good times!

My grandpa took my brother and I out to a lake in Tasmania. Was a very special event. Thanks for sharing. I would love to visit Sierra's one day.

I bet he will long remember his first fish!

I hope so. He is pretty stoked about it now so I hope it makes a solid memory for him.

Nice trout! Well done for being the first!
