When to use what type of lures, according to you're environment

Recently some of my angler friends asked me for advice regarding lures, they were having difficulties getting decent bites on some of the lures they have successfully used at the same place as before.
So in this post i am going to discuss the different types of lures to use in different scenarios just a basic guideline although it makes a huge difference.
First of let just discuss some of the different variables that we are going to discuss.
Weather
Water conditions
Light absorption vs. lure colors
Lets get started
Weather
Overcast days/cloudy days

On these cloudy days always keep in mind that there is very limited sunlight to reflect of the lure that you are planning to use, although its not all bad as there are still u.v rays coming through so i would recommend using a fluorescent lure, they will be best suited for these conditions and will reflect a lot of light, to entice any fish in the vicinity.
As seen in below picture.

Sunny days
*Amazing weather conditions *

On these bright and sunny days most lures should produce a decent fish although silver and gold lures work best, there is allot of sunlight for them to reflect and will most certainly produce more bites and hookups, keep in mind that these lures work very poorly on overcast/cloudy days as the lure needs direct sunlight to reflect without it they become virtually indivisible in the water.

Silt or clay
When you can clearly see that there is silt or clay in the water then changing tactics would be best, in these conditions a darker lure would work best such as a black lure with a crank to help catch the attention of the fish, murky or muddy conditions really blocks allot of sunlight so a black lure will work better, as it would stand out in the water and be more visible, As seen bellow.

Algae
Algae can appear seasonally and can be a complete head ache for lure fishermen ass the lure could snag on the algae and ultimately cause you to lose the lure or reel in a huge "ball" of algae, but in these conditions i would also recommend using a darker lure but with a shinny coating as there is sunlight penetrating the water that will help you're lure to shimmer and the dark colour will help fish to see the outlines of the lure, crank bait is also recommended.
As seen below.

Light absorption vs. lure colors
This graph will show the light absorption on different depths of water, keep in mind that this is based on normal weather conditions under normal circumstances, its just a indication on which colors work best on diffrent depths and how visible they are on those depths.

Always remember that fishing is skill combined with luck and that these tips and advice are just basic guidelines to help the new angler to also build up a proper knowledge basis.
and i hope that these tips were useful, if you have any comments/questions please feel free to comment below and i will always try my best to clarify or assist where i can...
Thanks for all the support.

I often do well with a black bucktail with a red trailer on a full moon night for striped bass. Although I never thought of murkyness of the water. I have to keep that in mind, Great info by @knoxman.
