Never forget that things aren't always as they seem

This picture isn't supposed to show one side being better than another but simply a posed picture and then the in-between of getting that posed picture.

I find the past two days I've been playing the comparison game. Comparing myself to others and then feeling inferior as a result. I am consciously making an effort on acknowledging this and anytime I do catch myself with those thoughts I switch them to positives about myself. I choose to use social media therefore it is important I learn to not let it get me down.

When I put a picture like this together it puts things into perspective. It makes me remember that we precisely choose exactly what we want to show on social media and it is usually a reflection of our best days, moments, pictures, experiences, etc. Social media is only a glimpse into someone's life...a chosen, posed, edited, small glimpse of their reality.

If I had never made it public that I struggle with depression, anxiety and body image issues would to have ever thought I did? Probably not. Why? Because I chose not to show those parts and you made a judgment on me based only on the hand picked things I decided to show...which wasn't the reality.

It's easy to get caught up in those who you follow, compare to, or wish you had what they have. But it is a waste of energy. I always end up feeling defeated, and for what? Because I am different? It's not about tearing yourself apart because you aren't doing what this person or look like that person, it's about remembering you are exactly who you are supposed to be. You will never ever truly know someone else's reality but you can work on creating the absolute best one for yourself.

Never forget that things aren't always as they seem. Focus on you, that's the only truth you'll ever really know. image.jpeg
