Ever have "Keeping Fit" in your New Year Resolution, only to have it year after year in your resolution? Well, here're a few simple tips to follow through with what you had promised yourself.
Have a plan
Discipline is the bedrock of excellency, and how do we craft discipline? Through scheduling and planning. Without a battle plan, it is impossible to stick through your fitness goal. Have a fitness regime plan in mind, and then write it out. Includes what activities you are going to do, how long you are planning to do etc. Do include cheat day too, so that it allows you to cut some slack and also to reward yourself for sticking to your goal.
Have a training buddy
Why suffer alone when you can have your best buddy to suffer with you together? A training buddy allows you keep each other motivated and to add zest to your routine fitness activity. However, do take note that you should pick a buddy with similar fitness level as you to optimize the training.
Have a flow
With reference to point one, it is sometimes quite grueling to follow your regime, especially when there is external temptation that kicks in. Therefore, it is best to have your training habits to kick in automatically. Place your running shirt/shorts beside your bedside before you go to bed and your running shoe right in front of your door. These physical “cues” acts as a short circuit wiring in your brain, subconsciously stimulating your brain to want to go for a run. In this way, they will be the first thing that you see in the morning, which prompt you for your daily run.
