Weighted Chinup/Pullup Challenge

Hey DTubers

Here's a new Chinup/Pullup challenge for Dtube fitness

I shot a vid of part of a fairly typical training session for myself doing pullups/chinups, I'd done 12 unweighted pullups & 8 reps with an extra 16kg as a warmup first that I didn't get on video. I was also doing HSPU's in between sets. I was feeling OK so I thought I'd have a crack at a one arm chinup (probably not wise) but I did get my chin over the bar for one very ugly rep.

This is a strength challenge, so I don't really care how many reps you can do, just do one good rep of either a pullup or chinup with added weight. I always do few lighter sets first to warm up and switch on the CNS before any big effort, but feel free to do it any way that suits you.

So post your bodyweight and a vid of yourself doing a pullup or chinup with added weight. Whoever can do one with the highest percentage of their own bodyweight added wins.

Winner gets 3 SBD
2nd gets 2 SBD
3rd gets 1 SBD

If the winner can beat my 60kg (I can actually do one with over 70kg) I'll make the 1st prize 5 SBD

I let this run for a week (not counting today) and announce the winner on the 21st April.

60 kg additional weight is outrageous!!
Actually never tried weighted pull ups so I can't say how much additional weight I can do.
I'll try to try it out but don't have the opportunity at home.

I was doing almost 90kg a few years ago before I broke my back. I was closing in on the world record but I think Marcus Bondi ended up taking that. Maybe I'll get back there one day, time will tell.

Challenge accepted. Just need to find a bar first. Guess I wont be competitive on the rings.

Yeah, I don't think rings would be ideal. I'm sure you'll do well though, gymnastic strength has a good carry over to stuff like this.

& what are the white things on the chin up bar?

The white things are pieces of PVC pipe, they revolve when you grip them to do pullups and make pullups much more difficult. Most people slip off without doing one rep the first time they use them.

It took me about 5 months with a few breaks along the way to get an OAC.

Not many seem to be up for the challenge.

The way this is looking Booster will just have to do one rep with a packet of peanuts in his pocket to take the win.

Surely someone else could do it too, it's just one rep.
