“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

~Mark Twain

YOLO!!

I know, I know… I don’t think anyone likes this phrase, but it can’t be ignored that we only have one shot in this crazy thing called life. We have one chance to achieve everything our heart desires. Why not go for it? What are you waiting for?

In this series we will focus on the power of goal setting, the role of our health in achieving them, and the balance between serving others and self love.

This week take some time to explore the crevices of your deepest desires. I strongly encourage you to keep a journal during this series if you choose to do the writing exercises. This is for your eyes only, and only you get to determine what you share with others. With my own journal practice I’ve given myself just one rule: Have no filter. Write down your raw thoughts and feelings with no processing. Get it all out there—the good, bad and the ugly. You can only progress if you’re 100% honest with yourself first.

Over the next several weeks I’ll be giving you some journal prompts by Margarita Tartakovsky, the Associate Editor of PsychCentral.com. The purpose of these exercises is to reflect and learn about yourself. And remember, you have free reign in your journal! Don’t write to impress anyone. No one will read your thoughts but you. Imagine you’re writing a letter to your pen-pal clone that lives in another country that you tell everything to!

If you don’t complete all three of these prompts this week don’t sweat it! You can always come back to them later. When you sit down to write give yourself at least 20-30+ minutes of alone, undistracted time for each prompt. This is YOUR time to invest in yourself to recharge and gain clarity. You will thank yourself later.

Happy discovering!
