Sculpsure targeted fat reduction therapy: The new "magic bullet" for fat destruction that you shouldn't do

in fitness •  last year

I stay on top of the rather unscrupulous world of "fat reduction" and the various products and procedures that exist out there for these things. The purveyors of this sort of stuff are always targeting people who are lazy and want to get rid of excess body fat via some sort of magic that doesn't involve them actually getting off their asses and sweating a bit.

Now I don't hate this particular offering as much as I do the completely bogus pills that are sold in various supplement stores but I do still dislike that people are duped into this. For one thing, the above photo is considered one of the "best" pictures of results that this particular clinic has to show potential customers and I guess they were required to divulge that this is the results that this one particular person experienced over the course of a year and two treatment sessions.

The way that this stuff is marketed is done in a way that they inform people that all they have to do is lie down and let this magic machine burn away fat inside their belly or other parts of their body that they want it done on, and at least up to this point, what they are saying is true. This particular advertisement is very disingenuous though since according to actual verified and certified clinics the process actually costs between $2,000 and $4,000, not $24.99.

What happens during the process? Well in a shell you wear a vacuum of sorts strapped to your belly and then the machine freezes the fat cells inside your body because someone discovered that fat cells do not like cold temperatures but the other cells and tissue are unaffected by it. Ok, that sounds great and all but there is also the question of kind of doctored results. Clinical trials that were completed by the people who patented this procedure show something like a 60% success rate, which sounds awesome - but unless you really dig into the numbers you don't really know what "success" means. As it turns out the amount of fat destruction, if you want to even call it that, was barely noticeable by most people. Also, and I would imagine they are required to tell you this if you sign up for the procedure, it doesn't affect the skin in any way so even if you did have a noticeable amount of targeted fat loss, the skin is going to remain loose and honestly, I don't know if that is better.

Let's say you splashed out the $4000 and got this done but now you have a fat flap on your belly. Is that something you are going to feel great about when taking off your shirt? Probably not and now you have to also get a "tummy tuck" procedure done as well. Also, and this is probably the worst part, if you just do this procedure and don't actually alter the lifestyle that lead to you being fat in the first place, it is simply going to come right back.

The only real solution to excess fat anywhere on your body including the horrible belly fat is to alter your lifestyle and honestly, you might be surprised how much small and prolonged changes to a lifestyle, in particular diet, can do that for you for free. In my situation the only thing I did was almost completely eliminate processed sugar and fructose as well as switching to lower carb beer. I also started slowly with exercise and gradually increased the intensity to the point where it is just a part of my life now. By doing this, I have not only lost a lot of fat but I have also gained a bunch of muscle and helped out my overall cardiovascular health.

You will not get any of these things by doing "Sculpsure" or any of the other cryolipolysis process.

Unfortunately folks, there are no shortcuts in health, you are going to have to get off your ass and actually change a thing or two about your overall lifestyle. Yes it is more difficult but as they say, nothing worth having was actually acquired easily. Make small, sustainable changes to your lifestyle and the results will come. If I can do it, so can nearly anyone else!

I have no educational background to back up what I write about in here. What I do have is over 30 years of experience having done the wrong things and perhaps you can learn from my mistakes and never make them in the first place
