Today was my very first 15K run. I had been nervous about running this race for some time now. The reason being I have never been one to run super long distances for races until a few years ago when I started running a 5K once a month. As soon as I realized the excitement of running long distances and with others I started to get hooked to running for distance not time. I later moved on from 5K and started to run more 10K. I have ran over 5 10K and soon realized 6 miles was becoming a bit more easier after each race. It was not until today that I decided to sign up for a 15K and be like Nike "just do it". So after days of anticipation and fear of failure I completed my very first 15K.
I was so excited that in the race I refused to quit and decided to keep pushing myself until the end. I only walked for about 30 seconds and the rest of the run I kept a really steady pace of 10'13 and completing the race in 1:33:25 seconds.
I am super pumped and sore at the moment, but know that I will begin to start running more 15K and work myself up to a half Marathon (13.1) mile by the end of the year.
That's awesome! I ran one 5k and learned they weren't for me. Gotta find what drives you!!

Well it took me a few runs to actually start enjoying races. I love the thrill and the opportunity to meet new people who care about their fitness. Plus there is nothing like beating your PR on a race, just like weightlifting.
