What is a fake weight?
A fake weight is, well... A fake weight? It does exactly what you think, It looks like a barbell weight but isn't a barbell weight at all. In fact, it is the exact opposite, There is a guy on social media going around claiming that he can bench press over 500lbs (225kg), He posts these videos where he does the exercise and claims that all the weights he puts onto the bar are real. But Why? This is obviously a way to grow a following, it is a scheme to grow your popularity!!
I saw this Video and started wondering, Where do you get fake weights? Turns out, there is a website called Fakeweights.com, and fake weights is all they sell!!!
I then came up with another question... Why would a company put in so much effort to mass produce Fake Weights?
The description of one of their products says that you can use Fake Weights for Movie sets, Technique training, and Props. They also say Viral marketing, Which is exactly what this guy did!!
It's not like Fakeweights.com isn't making good money either, their price range ranges from 50USD all the way to 580USD!!! I think whoever invented this, is rolling in money at the moment. Just think of all the movie sets that have bought weights from him!!
I don't think I'll ever buy these fake weights, not only because they are expensive, but also because I see no use in them other than pulling pranks on people!
