Enter with the intention to build a habit.
Stop trying to plan super intense and difficult workouts. Chances are that you are not as tough and hardcore as you think you are.
You do not want to focus on what you will look like in a month or three months. You want to think about a year and two years from now.
For now, plan simple and easy to complete workouts. Cover your bases, get everything worked once a week, but don't over do it. Make it a light hearted fun addition to your life. As the weeks go by slowly add more and more and before you know it you'll be ready for the big stuff.
I agree, people usually expect too much from going to the gym for a short time and they give up if they don't see the desired results instantly
