5/7 Films for the Weekend That I Recommend and Hope You Enjoy

  • Crossing Over (2009)

Stars - Harrison Ford, Ashley Judd, Alice Eve, Ray Liotta, Alice Braga, Cliff Curtis

Follows the difficulties of many different people who have come to America whether legally or illegally and the means in which some of them go to stay all the while the people who are suppose to deport or support them have conflicts of their own. Really hard to describe without giving away any of the multiple intertwining subplots, but this was a surprisingly good film told from many different angles. With the possible new focus of the US immigration policy, it will make this film that much better.

  • Equilibrium (2002)

Stars - Christian Bale, Taye Diggs, Angus Mayfadyen, Emily Watson, Sean Bean

In a world devoid of emotion, a member of the special police force starts to feel for the first time, and realizes his world has been empty and is now slowly being filled. The action is completely different and makes this film that much fun. Not a normal gun film and that's the point. A great ride.

  • Thank You for Smoking (2005)

Stars - Aaron Eckhart, Maria Bello, J.K. Simmons

A big time tobacco spokesman tries to spin all the evils about the industry in an utterly hysterical way so he can still have his son look up to him. Wow is this film dark and unbelievably funny at times. Not to be taken seriously and that's why it's so good.

  • Gattaca (1997)

Stars - Ethan Hawke, Jude Law, Uma Thurman

A man destined to be a nobody replaces a disabled genetically advanced individual in order to go on a space mission. During preparations for the mission, someone is mysteriously murdered and suddenly this imposter is in constant fear of discovery. Such a great film. Jude Law was awesome. I loved it.

  • Edge of Tomorrow (2014)

Stars - Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton

A coward is forced into battle against an alien force that invaded Earth, only to accidentally develop the power to relive this day. With the help of the most decorated soldier, he must memorize the battle in order to get past the obstacles to defeat the enemy. The plot follows the concept of a video game and is done to perfection. Completely unique and absolutely awesome, i can't recommend this film enough. A must see for anyone.

  • The Shape of Water (2017)

Stars - Sally Hawkins, Octavia Spencer, Michael Shannon

At a top secret research facility in the 1960s, a lonely janitor forms a unique relationship with an amphibious creature that is being held in captivity.

  • Office Space (1999)

Stars - Ron Livingston, John C McGinley, Jennifer Aniston

Maybe the best comedy from the 90's, this tells the story of a disgruntled man who works an office job who gets hypnotized and just stops caring. Its the characters and their subtle actions that just absolutely make this film one of the best. A Mike Judge masterpiece of comedy that no one should miss.

  • Eastern Promises (2007)

Stars - Viggo Mortensen, Naomi Watts

This film follows the discovery of a diary of a Russian teenager who died during childbirth that may unlock some of the violent and sickening acts of the underground London Russian mob scene. Hard to describe much more but man is this a really rough and amazing film. So good you will enjoy every moment.

  • The Road (2009

Stars - Viggo Mortensen, Charlize Theron, Kodi Smit-McPhee

In a dangerous post-apocalyptic world, an ailing father defends his son as they slowly travel to the sea.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0898367/?ref_=ttls_li_tt

  • Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai (1999)

Stars - Forest Whitaker

A mafia hitman who uses the way of the samurai finds himself on the other side when the mafia suddenly wants him dead. What a wild and awesome movie. I think people think the plot and title are stupid and unfortunately miss out on a total blast of a film. Watch it, you won't be disappointed.
