Steem was meant to be for content creators and consumers

Ever since the days of Utopian.io developing its bot and expanding its different sections, IMHO Steem has seen a type of goldrush in which many twould try to get those not too elusive Utopian bot upvotes.

In recent times, with Steem blockchain apps having received significant amounts of delegated Steem Power, this situation may have gotten much worse, a sentiment also shared by Steemian @liberosist who published their Perspective: Steem was meant to be for content creators and consumers:

I miss the days when Steem was all about content creators and content curators. Today, it's become a free market for opportunists and developers. There's still some great content here, but few care to reward them anymore.

Today, a vast majority of the active Steem Power has been delegated out to vote buying services, developers, and SP rentals. Curators have been squeezed out of the reward pool. Established curation projects like steemSTEM and OCD have minimal delegations, while others like Curie have no delegations at all.

While @liberosist is less blatant than I am in calling out bidbots, and their impact, as well as the often ridiculous amount of platform bot upvotes, it is true that it seems that the whole Steem focus has become one of short term profit - and whoever can shall run their own bidbot too, because the business model is viable, right.

Head over to @liberosist excellent essay and don’t forget to chime in in the comments: Perspective: Steem was meant to be for content creators and consumers

Hey there, this is @FknMayhem's alt account.

Here I mostly tumbl (resteem with added commentary and attitude or snark, a form of advanced curation Steem doesn't offer), zapp, post to forums, and submit other miscellaneous mischief. The latter which may or may not include more personal content.

There may be days it can be noisy around here, follow at your own risk. Alternatively, follow my attempts at more in-depth own content on my main account, @FknMayhem.

I am also on zeh Titter. Feel free to pitch me your worthy suggestions there. But make them worth my time, please. A SteemAuto curation trail can be joined here (must be logged in) to support and upvote all great content found and curated.
