Yay, national holiday ...

We can all feel proud for a day ...

It basically comes down to one single battle 800 years ago where the peasantry and craftsmen / merchants got their Sun-Tzu on SO bad, they kicked the overconfident heavy french cavalry back to
from whence it came ... I'm not sure the glory lasted long but it was so bad-ass they still celebrate it (and probably also b/c it's like the only thing in history worth mentioning (o dear , shouldnt say that) b/c Julius Caesar mentioned the Belgae to be the bravest (and as a nationalist you can't say you're Belgian ofcourse :p ... not that i am one)

On the funfact side, the holiday was decided in my birth year and my old man shot one day wrong b/c my birthday is the next day (yea really, i really think they aimed for that ...)

So yea, the flemish movement , somewhat on the rise again clearly, although i doubt most "movers" know much about the locale histoire ... it's more of an anti-movement and i think TFA leaves out a few bits there like Verdinaso , or VMO , the more recent blood and honour ... van haerenborgh (doesnt have a page but this one does : VNJ ... eriksson ... Thomas doesn't have a page either ? yea well ...

ofcourse, the martyrs like father Adolf Daens and August Borms ... back in the day the country was literally ruled by the french side and the enmity still exists ...

I don't choose sides, i grew out of that "movement" (well they kicked me out more like when i was 17 ... something about issues with authority i think, lol)

But a lot of people do again, and i think historians NEED TO PAINT AN ACCURATE OBJECTIVE PICTURE ... not vilify or censor out parts because it's convenient ...
