This is one of the most fun conspiracy theories! Real-world comedy, mass trolling at its very best!
The so-called Mandela Effect is the theory that masses of people collectively have the same specific, but false memories of events or things, because reality itself has somehow changed. I've heard it explained that the cause is that the Earth and all those who live there, including us silly humans, have jumped from one timeline to another! On this new timeline, things are mostly the same, but just a bit different. Movie quotes are a bit different from how you remember them. Book titles are just a bit different. Logos, maps, recipes, etc., all just a bit different...
From a popular channel, here are some "examples!" There are hundreds more from other people...
Of course, it couldn't be that some things actually get changed over their lifetimes, or that (bad) copies or artistic renditions or spinoffs are made, and / or that all of these "changes" are within the margin of error for building, mixing or recalling memories? (See the monopoly guy as in the video above, but think of the peanut mascot guy.) Or more significantly, that when one person misremembers something, they can very easily transmit this false memory to others? (Like with people misquoting movies.) Or that some people just don't know the relevant data and spread misinformation about any given thing?! (Because of the latter, the Mandela effect itself is well named.)
Here, from another user is a good example where in all likelihood, the Ford Motor Co. changed it's logo at some point in time, then someone rebuilt part but not all of this car. So there were original components with the original logo, and those parts with a second distinct logo on them. Or, they rebuilt the car with parts from whichever generations they could get. Or, they are copies of parts with a slightly wrong logo. I don't feel like wasting time to confirm this, but it's as simple as that... And my explanation is much simpler and easier to believe than a "residual blending of alternate realities..."
Why is it preferable to believe in the "Mandela Effect" over admitting you're wrong or don't know enough about something?!
Well, I bet some kid got an A++ on their thesis! Awesome job kid! (Now go make up for starting this theory with a stellar psych career!)
Coming up in my next post, specific critical thinking questions, and an intro to rockets for Flat Earthers! Until then, what's your favourite conspiracy theory?!
The Mandela Effect is a great theory...
The older I get, the more "Mandela" experiences I have!

I was just discussing with my friend the idea that we are in a simulation and I joking suggested the Mandela effect is proof the simulation has glitches LOL

That does it, if you've seen the glitches and believe them, who am I to resist the truth?!

Just remember to blame the glitch next time you misplace your car keys!
