Hi guys, there is more planning to this floor tile layout than I thought.
What you see here is the first two rows thin-set and in place. I cut the corners off for the Mexican 4x4 tiles that are somewhat different sizes, they are hand made and hand painted. I had to number the 4x4's and number the floor tiles so the 1/4 inch gap would be even. There is some leeway but it would look off if I just standard cut the corners off
So It is slow going......

I wanted to have five rows deep of floor tile so after the first two rows, I dry-laid the last three with spacers to be precise.
I did this in several spots to be sure when I thin-set the 1/4 inch cement board, that I matched tile to cement board exactly. I had a lot of problems at this point. It seems that my Baby Mountain lion LIKES these little tile spacers! I was worried he might eat them ( he eats everything ), and when I turned my back he was prying them out.. I'm not sure what I am going to do with him LOL!

This cement board is cut with a utility knife and a dry-wall T square, then the slightly rough edge is sanded with a sanding block. They sell this sanding stone at the big blue box store for $12.99......... I picked the same one up at the local Dollar store ..... $1.00 Nice! :)

So now the edges need to be taped and then I can start laying the balance of the tiles!

I am enjoying this project, and that's a good thing because I have another section in front of two patio doors that will need tile ........ and the kitchen!!!!

WOW @silvertop better get going!!!!!
