The southeast may become an even worse abortion rights hellscape. Republicans have supermajorities in both state chambers and are interested in further eroding abortion rights in the state.
Closest states for abortion access if Florida further tightens abortion restrictions there will be potentially the Carolinas. But South Carolina's six week ban is currently being litigated. North Carolina meanwhile still doesn't have a Republican supermajority to override the governor's veto, but he is up for re-election in 2024 and the Republicans could very well get the supermajority in 2024. The North Carolina Supreme Court now has a Republican majority as well, so any litigation is likely to favor the anti-abortion side.
The worst part about this is Florida is pretty pro-choice.
