Just chewing a very small part of this plant causes terrible pains in the mouth and throat, followed by swelling of the airway, resulting in suffocation. Once the poison swallows this plant, it immediately acts on the digestive system, causing internal bleeding. Other symptoms of Dieffenbachia intoxication include: Inability to articulate words, nausea, vomiting and dizziness.
