The name of the flower is Epiphyllum Oxpetalum – commonly known as ‘Queen of the Night.’
The flower bud starts to open in the evening and is fully opened by midnight. The scent is strong, pungent and very nice. Unfortunately, the flowers don’t stay open for long. It starts to fade and die off almost immediately after full bloom, and by morning, the flower is withered! I guess that’s where it gets its name - ‘Queen of the Night.’
Queen of the Night reminded me of the song by Mozart in the Magic Flute
