It's always nice to get a bouquet of flowers. Unfortunately, most plants do not last too long and quickly fade.

Therefore, we decided to introduce 10 simple but effective way to keep cut flowers fresh and beautiful for a longer period of time.

Place the flowers in a large, clean vase

Always use a clean vase. This will reduce the risk of bacteria and other microorganisms that can multiply and affect the flowers. Make sure the stems are not compressed too much into one another. Select vases with wide necks.

Use hot water

No boiling, of course. The temperature should be about 43-44 degrees Celsius. Pour water in the vase with flowers and leave it in a cool place for an hour or two. Hot water molecules move more quickly through the stems. While the flowers lose less moisture because of the cold air. This method is called "hardening".

If you do not want to 'threat' flowers, use hot water

If the previous method does not suit you just put the bouquet in hot water or in such a room temperature. Freshly cut flowers take hot water with much more readily than cold. For the budding plants, however best use cold.

Remove the leaves at the bottom of the stem

To prolong the life of the bouquet, remove all leaves that will end up under water in the vase. Otherwise they will rot quite quickly and will feed the bacteria that will eventually damage the plant itself.

Replace water

Every day. Remember to remove all small residues at the bottom before you pour fresh water. This will reduce the risk of infection. You can also add a few aspirin tablets to keep water clean and free of bacteria harmful to plants.
