Field Bindweed Flowers

Morning Glory - Convolvulus arvensis

Another noxious invasive plant species I have on the farm. This small grouping of Bindweed plants are growing in the most inhospitable place on our farm, on the paved road leading to our driveway. It is the hottest place, receives ZERO supplemental water outside of rain, gets cut with weedeater, and are run over by vehicles. That being said, the plants are in a perfect place since they have little chance of spreading far and are not able to take over any needed ground.

On the west side of the state they have a much harder time with the plant due to the masive difference in climate. These plants are not able to get to a substantial size each year so have been kept on the smaller side. This has led to smaller flowers than many of the specimens I have seen pictures of online. The flowers on mine are only 2 inches wide at most where the plants are capable of much larger flowers in the proper environment.

You can see the stark ground that the vine is growing in. This is quite old pavement covered in detritus on the side of our road. There are only a couple of the vines that are growing in the soil off the side of the pavement but they maintain the same size as the ones growing in the road. They are alo growing within about 20 feet of my only Western White Clematis vine that is near the creek.
