The Old Dog Presents: Reaping What You Did Not Sow! Contest!

in flowers •  6 years ago

The famous expression is "You will reap what you sow". In other words you suffer or benefit as a result of your own actions.

For example:

  • If you study diligently you'll pass the exam and if you don't you'll fail.
  • If you obey the speed limit you won't get a ticket and if you don't you will

Sometimes though, nature takes over and the opposite happens. I'd like to give you an example of me reaping what I did not sow.

Flowering Plants Growing Out Of The Cracks In My Stairs!

I never planted this beauty and it's just as nice or nicer than our potted flowers!

Another crack and another beautiful flowering plant!

I take great pleasure in seeing these examples of reaping what I did not sow. I don't know where they came from or how they got there but they're beautiful and add a sparkle of joy to the cracks in our paving stones!

Let's See your Examples (The Reaping What You Did Not Sow Contest)!

Contest Rules:

  • Please show me an example of a flower growing where it was not sown.
  • Add the photo to the comment section below. Feel free to make a separate post if you like as well.
  • One entry per person
  • There will will 5 prizes of 1 Steem each for the best entries.
  • The contest closes when this post pays out.

I'm looking forward to seeing your entries!

I didn't sew this plant in my plate, but there it was! And I didn't even pay for the dinner because someone treated me to a sumptuous feast in Amsterdam!

Thanks for the entry!

Beautiful pics!

I found the subject of this contest very interesting. It would be a good idea if you continue this contest with different themes every week 😊

By the way, Law of Karma is immutable. Sometimes you unknowingly sow seeds and sometimes you unintentionally sow and forget. See, you didn't leave those cracks in your stairs for no reason! You left that plant to sprout and thrive there undisturbed ...now you are doomed to enjoy this beauty 😊.

Yes I'm doomed! :)

Will you be entering a photo?

That's so perfect a nice shot there giving a way of living :)

Thanks!

Thank you for the very interesting contest! Beautiful photos:)

I await your entry.

Seeds sown along the path represent those who hear the word of God, but do not understand.

Nice parable.

Thanks for this beautiful post. Beautiful flowers.
Specialy this one in the stone.

Do you have an example.

These lines are so motivational.

If you study diligently you'll pass the exam and if you don't you'll fail.
If you obey the speed limit you won't get a ticket and if you don't you will

The truth motivates.

This is my entrance friend, this was on a trip I had a few days ago and when I saw these beautiful flowers coming out of these rocks I called my attention so much beauty that nature gives us

Very nice!

Fun contest.

Since I already am in the habit of taking photos of flowering weeds, it wasn't hard for me to find something to share. One day I found a patch of weeds growing on the side of a parking lot in some soil that looked very disturbed from recent construction. The land here gets scorched by the sun all summer long. Nobody takes care of the earth here, or waters the plants, or mows the grass, except nature finds its own way.

Thanks for the entry!

Gemara Taanis 23 tells; "Choni met a man planting a carob tree, and he asked him why he was planting a tree which would bear fruit only after seventy years. The man told him that just as his father had planted a carob tree for him, he wanted to plant a carob tree for his children."

Nice gifts :)

That's called thinking long term!

Now, with a more valid entry here than the funny story before.
Yesterday at the school where I practice taiji, this is a view of the gutter which have gotten growth of different botanic lives. Usually, they clear this once a while but it's been raining quite a bit. So, maybe someone didn't do the job.

Thanks for this!

You're welcome

I love this, Ace! Great photo!

Thank you.

Thank for this one!

Well I havne't a picture ready for this, but I LOVE when I get these surprised in my garden. What a lovley begonia you have there, just popping up. They can be good self seeders depneding on the climate. I have to bring in begoinia's if I want them to survive and they do make good houseplants.

I love it too when I get out a winter coat from the storage closest, like yesterday, and find 50 dollars in the pocket! Not sure it's the same thing, though, because I had to work at some point to get the money to put it in there, but having forgot it , it's like it appeared from the great beyond. :)

Good news about the $50!

Great topic for one of your wonderful contests! Here is my entry.

I did not plant these beautiful orange daylilies...

They grow from bulbs so I think a squirrel or chipmunk was carrying it to his little hole sonewhere and dropped it on my path behind my garden.

It seems very happy there so I won’t move it. It’s in a little spot between my pine trees that gets light on it through the morning.

Good work by the squirrels!

Not sure if someone said this yet, but perhaps this is a generational offspring of something that you had sown in the past!?

In a container or something and its eventual proliferation..

Who knows?

I had discovered a marigold sproutling beneath a large potter on our pool deck.. it had germinated in the landscaping stones where there was no dirt, just space between rock. I was weeding the area when I plucked the little plant, noticed its similarity to the marigold in the large container just in front of me and said, "This must be a marigold.."..

I moved the little sprout to a very small container where we watched a venus fly trap wither and die... and sure enough now there are countless marigold blooming flowers from this tiny container sprout.. which I thought was a weed.

Very nice. Thanks!

I missed your contests, @kus-knee. I have seen it (not too) late, but I'm very happy to be joining myself in time to participate.
This photo I made last year in Thassos Island. A fragile flower from a large white wall. I liked it so much.

Thanks for joining in the fun.

With pleasure!

Not so much of flower growing out of place but a flower place out of place.

OK, just a joke someone played. Some one stuck a flower into the cow dung at Lantau Island, Hong Kong. This cow seems to be asking who did that? Whoever did it, I'm sure was thinking of
一朵鲜花插在牛粪上
Literally: “A flower stuck into a pile of cow dung.”
Sort of means "a beautiful or talented woman marries an ugly or untalented husband"

Funny!

Yes, someone was trying to be funny. :)

What's more, I generally surmise that we are encompassed by the wonderful craftsmanship it's simply matter of Observation and afterward we can see some amazing segments, perspectives and appearances of nature.

Wishing you an incredible day and remain favored.
