Orchidomania

I have a new beauty, which I am incredibly happy about. Today my husband @bluesky6 made such a nice present for me. And taking advantage of the occasion in connection with the planned women's holidays (February 14th and March 8th), I want to say that it's much better to have flowers in pots that will make us happy for very long time than just to get cut roses or tulips, that will die a week later.

Although we came to Kaniv in summer not for a long time I was very glad to have an orchid here. A yellow beauty, which pleased me for about three months, dropping just one flower. I'm sorry that I do not have photos where it blooms.

But then we went on vacation and trusted a flower to a friend. After coming here and there with the frost outside the plant could not save its flowers.
However, the orchid survived this stress, I water it under a hot shower, wiped leaves with succinic acid, smeared a couple of buttons with cytokinin ointment, and at the moment one button woke up for sure. And maybe one-two months later I will have yellow orchid blooming as well.

But ... it's impossible to live without orchid flowers. I fully felt this dependence, similar to drug addiction, when it is impossible to live without this beauty. I've even watched a bunch of different YouTube videos about orchids. Unfortunately, they are mainly about watering, about how to make blossom, about feeding and other things, than just beautiful videos about how they look good. The ones just for enjoying I would prefer.

And on the street, plus minus winter, and therefore any purchase unfortunately now falls under the same risk that flowers will not survive. In fact, I found a shop in Kyiv with very beautiful orchid sorts, but I have to wait until spring, because the weather can not be trusted now. And somehow, having chosen the time of thaw, we got the joy of my eyes for the near future.

In general, I would like to note what distinguishes normal people from people who have orchids. The fact is that these are not "our" flowers, so they need conditions to be created for them absolutely unlike what we are used to.

Orhomanas need:

  1. Glassy pots, because light is also needed for the roots of the orchids and as it is clearly visible when it is necessary to water the condensate on the walls of the pot.
  2. A special extract is bark, sphagnum moss, coal, coconut chips.
  3. Special fertilizers for orchids, succinic acid.
  4. Cytokinin paste to stimulate flowering.

It is noteworthy that once having received as a gift an orchid and discovering some groups in which they tell how to look after them and what to do, you are also surprised to see a huge number of people who count the roots, leaves and flowers, brag about their plants and discuss them all the time . And then the world after that will never be the same, because you also begin to watch your own, not to miss the moment of burn, disease, overflow or drying, etc. But, of course, the goal of such attention will always be flowers.

And the result of my current attack of orchid dependence was that I listened and watched about garlic irrigation and propagation by cuttings, and I really want to try. If there's something interesting to happen with my experiments, I'll be back with it.

I love orchids! Luckily here they blossom all year long!🙏🍀🌺

You are really lucky :) still the weather allowed me to get the flower today )

beautiful flower. And you are right, flowers in pots are much better than cut roses and tulips.

It reminds me of Dexter movie serial :) I even think of watching it again.

really? why? i mean what reminds you of Dexter?

Dexter's second fiancee had a home orchid farm and she gave very similar sort to Dexter as a present because it's reminds of blood drops )

Somehow I remember that, but I've noticed that orchids are very often used for decorating in different movies.

:)) I guess I was watching not so attentively

I am not an Orhomanas, though love their blossom :) I wonder where do your experiment go :)

Вау! Какая прелесть)) Я тоже мечтаю приобрести орхидеи, но все никак руки не доходят...
