Nike Zoom Clearout

The Nike Zoom Clear Out is another new team model from Nike that will be worn during the Olympics this year. Here’s our first impressions video as well as the tech breakdown.

The Nike Zoom Clear Out has been worn by Draymond Green during the USAB practices and exhibition games. It’s safe to say that he will also be wearing this model during the Olympics in a couple of days in Rio. In terms of tech it’s very similar to the Nike Hyperrev 2016, the shoe that Green wore prior to the Nike Zoom Clear Out.

The Nike Zoom Clear Out features identical traction to the Nike Hyperrev 2016 (if you haven’t seen the performance review on that shoe, click here). For cushion, Nike has used the same forefoot Zoom unit that was seen in the Hyperrev 2016 but for some reason has removed the heel unit. The rest of the cushion comes from a Phylon midsole.

The material used along the upper is what is labeled by Nike as a “textile mesh” but really feels more like a micro mesh. Flywire is found at the bottom two eyelets to help lock in your forefoot. The shoe features an asymmetrical tongue as well, disconnected on the medial side of the shoe.

The collar uses a mesh with foam structures backing it to keep it soft and flexible in order to help maximize range of motion. There is an internal heel counter, as well as an extended midsole to keep your foot on the footbed. A part of the Phylon midsole comes up along the lateral side of the shoe to help with containment as well. The fit is true to size, however, wide footers may want to try the shoe on first since it is a softer upper material.
