Blockjot: On Price Movements, and Fear of Missing Out

in fomo •  6 years ago

The acute and all-concerning experience of FOMO is almost certainly known well to every reader of this sentence. Some know of a night missed in a packed night club, ended by the staggered wandering along an abandoned street, contemplating the lost opportunities in life. We, also or alternatively, know of a surge in price such as to exclude our planned investment.

This is my first post in a while, having considered the utility in commiting to a platform without sustainable community. The desire to be in early enough, but not so deep as to prove unproductive should the markets sway elsewhere, is not exclusive to decentralised social media networks. I think every day about where my capital should sit, both tangibly tokenised, and more conceptual assets like time and academic enquiry. I await downturns, evaluate various degrees of upside, and then ultimately, watch, as I am left in the wake of movements which exceed my expectations, and wait for no one.

Whether or not bitcoin returns quickly enough to levels at which I planned![banner-beach.1.jpg] to buy in, and of course, whether alternatives are purchase before an expected pump against the market leader, I am becoming familiar with the sensation of missing out, and a fear of it all.
