CREAMY & DELICIOUS - BEST PASTEIS IN LISBON

 

As many of you have heard, there has been a lot of talk about the pasteis. The Portuguese Custard Tarts.

Sooo…. of course I had to find the best place for serving Pasteis. 

This place had a huge amount of people queuing outside to get this little pastry!

 I also did a bit of maths and tried to calculate how much money they would make selling the best pastils in town and what would be their daily profit. It worked out as 9000 euros a day on average, then it got me thinking I'm in the wrong job! lol! 

Pastel de nata is a Portuguese egg tart pastry, originally from Portugal which can also be found in countries with significant Portuguese immigrant populations. Pastéis de nata were created before the 18th century by Catholic monks. 

They also served different pastries and cakes of all sorts, I will leave it for you here to drool in front of your screen.

 There was a lot of traditional pastries and savoury bites as well. Not only did they serve coffee, but they also served a lot of wine!!  

The pastils are to die for, they are these crispy puff pastry tarts filled with creamy custard filling that melts in your mouth. 

Traditionally they also add cinnamon and sugar and then you bite into each one and go to heaven. 

I am drooling right now just writing about it!
