001 FOOD TRIP - HOW TO COOK SWEET AND SOUR TILAPIA

Preparation time: 10 mins
Cooking time: 40 mins
Total time: 50 mins
Serves: 3 pax

Ingredients

1 whole Tilapia
1 tbsp garlic
½ cup vinegar
1 tbsp fish sauce (patis)
1 cup bell pepper (red and green)
1 cup cooking oil
1 medium sized onion, finely chopped
1 thumb ginger, cut into strips
2 cups water
3 tbsp tomato paste
½ cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 small carrot, cut into strips

Instructions

  1. In a pan, put oil and wait until it is hot enough then put the Tilapia to fry.
  2. Cook the Tilapia until it is crispy brown then set aside.
  3. Saute the garlic, onion, carrots, ginger, and bell pepper (red and green) then add 2 cups of water and simmer for 5-7 minutes
  4. Pour the tomato paste, sugar, vinegar and fish sauce then mix thoroughly
  5. Dilute the cornstarch in ½ cup of water then add to thicken the sauce then simmer until the saucy consistency is achieved.
  6. Pour the sauce on top of the Tilapia.
  7. Serve hot. Share and Enjoy!
