Assalamualaikum , here is my recipe for Daleem...
Its tasty and healthy...
I love it with loads of chopped coriander, mint leaves , fried onions and ghee....
Always miss my dad whenever its prepared at home... it was his favourite.
Hope this recipe will help those trying to learn and others to try out also...
Zaroor banayein aur hamarey sath share karein...
You can adjust the spices according to your taste and consistency also...

Daleem.

Ingredients .
1/2 kg wheat.
2 tbsps of each daal... toor, moong daal, chana daal.
4-6 sliced onions.
2 -4 green chillies.
2-3 tsps of red chilly powder.
2 tsps dhanya powder.
1 tsp jeera powder.
1/4 th tsp turmeric powder.
1 tsp garam masala powder.
2 tbsp s ginger and garlic paste.
3 lemons.
Ghee and oil to fry onions and add some to garnish...
Salt as per taste.
Chopped fresh corianders and pudina leaves...
1 whole chicken... or meat of your choice... if using mutton or beaf , pressure cook till soft adding salt , turmeric , ginger garlic paste ...
If you like more chicken or mutton to be in your daleem... increase the meat quantity.
Tip Note: I fry some onions separately in combination of ghee and oil.. remove onions when almond brown in a plate, and oil in a mug... use the same oil for drizzling on top of daleem while serving.... this gives nice smell and taste..
Alwys run short of fried onions for daleem 😂 as we all add more into our bowls.....

Method

Wash and Soak wheat overnight.
Soak daal just for few hours.
Pressure cook the wheat and daal with enough water... but seperately, until its cooked well..
Wheat will take longer than daal...
when cooked, Using a wooden spoon mash the cooked wheat... or you can also use a hand blender... or blend in a blender, make it like a paste , traditionally its cooked till it turns mushy, but hand blenders make your work easier. 😊
Add little water if it looks very thick and dried....
Daals wil cook and turn mushy .. you can also blend this or skip blending if its cooked into paste.
Keep aside...
In a heavy bottomed vessel add ghee and little oil..
fry thinly sliced onions till golden brown... Remove some from oil and keep aside... saved for garnish.
In the same pot with little fried onions add chicken, add ginger garlic paste little salt... and sautey... add red chilly powder, green chillies, jeera powder, turmeric, coriander powder, garam masala powder and mix well... and let it cook... add little water if required...
When its cooked nice and soft... add the cooked wheat and daal into it and start mixing .. it will thicken as it cooks... add little water and start mashing along with the chicken .. remove the bones as u mash... you can also shred chicken or meat and then add, but this will give more taste .. Once its mashed well and looks like a paste.. Add chopped coriander leaves, lemon juice and mix...cook and let it thicken till your desired consistency.
Add water to dilute if it turns very thick.. adjust spices and salt according to your tastes. Remove from heat , pour some on a serving dish or individual plates..
garnish with fried onions, ghee, corinader leaves and ginger....
Taste s yummm ..
You can also use broken wheat, this will be easier to cook..
Always be careful while you pressure cook..
Water will splutter when cooking daal through its whistles... so add adequate water... if water added is less there are more chances of burning bottom... so alws keep checking... you can add more water later if its uncooked....
