I watched a couple of videos on raw vegan nutrition and it reminded me of a talk that Sadhguru gave.
For many years I got in contact with the idea that you are what you eat, but I never understood it on a deeper level. I experienced it a couple of times when doing a detox (no sugar, no carbohydrates, no dairy products) but I lost that connection again.
Sadhguru made me realize, that the saying "You are what you eat" is not figuratively spoken but literally. Your body takes the food it gets and builds new cells with it. About every four years, all the cells in your body are completely replaced with new cells. Therefore, it makes great sense to me, that if you want a healthy body, you put healthy food in your body. That way, your body will consist of healthy cells.
Also, what you eat not only affects how your body feels but it also influences your mood, your thoughts, your entire being. That is physics. By eating, you change the chemistry in your body and therefore also in your brain. Certain foods have certain chemicals and those chemicals have effects for the body, including your brain.
To keep it simple; if you want to have a healthy body, eat food that are healthy for you. If you want to feel good, eat food that is good for you.
What food is good for you?
There are many great resources available today, but ultimately you should listen to your body, it will tell you exactly what is good and what is not good for it.
