Vietnam at that time had trouble getting cream and fresh milk. So the Vietnamese people replace it with sweetened condensed milk.¹

While in Aceh, many Vietnamese Drip Coffee lovers replace sweetened condensed milk with palm sugar. That way, the bitter taste of coffee is not 100 percent lost.

What is Caffeine?

Caffeine is a crystalline and bitter-crystalline xanthine alkaloid compound that acts as a psychoactive stimulant and mild diuretic. Caffeine was invented by a German chemist, Friedrich Ferdinand Runge, in 1819. He coined the term "kaffein" to refer to a chemical compound in coffee.²

Caffeine can be excreted from the brain quickly, unlike alcohol or other central nervous system stimulants that do not interfere with high mental function and brain support. Consumption of caffeine in a sustainable manner will cause the body to be tolerant of the presence of caffeine. Recent studies suggest caffeine may reduce the risk of Parkinson's disease.


Side effects of caffeine:

  • Causing intoxication (caffeine intoxication) ie caffeine-induced drunk,
  • Restless,

Back to Vietnamese Drip Coffee. Actually how the hell is the way of serving this coffee?

  • Prepare 17 - 20 grams of ground coffee (milled medium). Heat water (88 degrees Celsius).
  • Prepare sweetened condensed milk as much as two tablespoons or more (to taste).
  • Put sweetened condensed milk on a transparent cup.
  • Place the metal cup over the cup. Then put the coffee into a metal base basket of Vietnamese Dripper.
  • Lock and tighten metal press. If you use a Vietnamese Dripper without a key, just enter the metal press.
  • Pour hot water to the upper limit of the cup (approximately 45 - 50 ml).
  • Let stand until the whole coffee drips. Then add about 20 to 30 ml of hot water again until the cup is full.
  • Wait a while until the whole coffee drips. Then duk until blended.
  • If you want to enjoy Vietnamese Iced Coffee you just add ice cubes to the coffee that has been served.³
