A light lunch ... Duck rice set! Bang Sare, Thailand

Refreshing and light meal of the day :)

If you see a Thai restaurant and are wondering of the goodness within yet nervous of the fact all the signs and menu are written in some indecipherable ancient script ... it's really just a matter of taking a deep breath, slowly absorbing the surroundings - a life-size Donald Duck outside helps give the game away ... Then it comes as no surprise, 90% of people order the 'set' - rice cooked in duck stock, with duck on top, some special homemade sauce of the establishment plus the broth made from the carcasses of previously dined on ducks. A duck restaurant is so simple, just a never-ending cycle of delicious duck-derived goodness. So I just walked in, pointed at a duck, and said 'set?'. Soup everything ok yes ... done. What you see is what I got. You don't always need fluent Thai.

Zooming out so you can take in the sauce, and the soup/broth. The sauce gets dumped straight on top, with the soup there to wash down mouthfuls. Together you get a bunch of flavours - light, citrus, chili, sweet and a little umami, savory from the lightly pickled veg this place includes. All in, I'm back to discover more of the menu options soon.

Looking into the shop with main counter for ordering serving and cooking on the right.

Now I feel hungry again ....
