Here is a recipe for an appetizer that I made the other day. I sort of made it up as I went, but they ended up tasting amazing!
First, you preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Then you must knead a heaping of pizza dough into a giant square, or any shape that you can manage to cut into strips. Once you have the pizza dough flattened out, cut it into long strips that are about an inch to an inch and a half wide. Put a good amount of fresh mozzarella and prosciutto on top of the strip as shown in this picture:
Then, you must pinch the strip closed, making it into a long rope. Be sure to pinch the edges together tightly or else the cheese will escape during the cooking.
Next, you tie the rope into a knot and place it onto a nonstick baking pan. Before they go into the oven, it is important to brush a mixture of melted butter, garlic, and oregano/parsley on top.
Now, the cooking time will vary based on the size of knots made. It can be anywhere between 10-20 minutes until they are complete. When there seems to be only a few minutes left before they are done, add some freshly grated parmesan cheese on top (or any other fresh cheese you may have that sounds good added in).
Here is a picture of them cooking in the oven:
Once they appear to be done, take them out of the oven and allow them to cool a bit- but not too much! You want the cheese to be nice and melted when they are served. Here is the final product with a small side Cesare. They go great with salad if being used as a main portion of a meal; otherwise making smaller ones would be good for an appetizer dish.
These were so tasty, you should make them again.
