Groundnut, common name for annual warm-season plant of the legume family and for it's seed.
Groundnut are nutritious and high in energy. The seed contains 50-50% oil and 20-30% protein and they are excellent source of vitamin B. Groundnut requires sunshine, a warm growing season of 120-140 days. They do best on well drained sandy soil. Some of the pest of groundnut are groundnut aphids, jassid, gram pod borer etc. And it's can be controlled by using dimethoate, spraying with insecticides, practicing inter-cropping and adopt cultural methid. Some cultural practice of groundnut are adding farmyard manure, seed treatment, application of pre-emergence herbicides, water management etc
Groundnuts is a very appreciated popular dry fruits, it is sold with shell or peeled and often roasted at times. It also contain Oleic acid which help to protect the body from any cardiovascular disease. Groundnut is also a source of fats and oil which in turns during fermentation produced of groundnut oil.
