Great Budget-Friendly Breakfast Restaurants in Puerto Vallarta, Contributed by @shenanigator

My girlfriend and I have been in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for about a week and a half and have had the opportunity to try quite a few breakfast restaurants. Some were good, some were great, and others aren't worth your time. Here are a few excellent budget-friendly restaurants to try out when you're seeking your next breakfast in Puerto Vallarta.

Salud Super Food

At Salud Super Food they have many healthy options and not a single menu item priced over 100 pesos. This is an excellent breakfast restaurant if you're looking for a breakfast burrito or tacos. The owner is fluent in both English and Spanish, so it's not a problem if you don't know the local language.

They did a really great job working with our allergies and customizing our order to fit our needs. Going by March 2018 prices, you'll be paying about 70 pesos ($3.75 US) per breakfast entree. Not only were they affordable with a lot of healthy options, our food tasted amazing! If you're in Vallarta, don't be a stranger to Salud!

Fredy's Tucan

This has been our most visited restaurant in Vallarta thus far, but it's also the most expensive of these three restaurants, albeit only slightly. They're making all of their food fresh and their portions are generous. Fredy's is also great about catering to allergies and customizing menu items to fit our needs.

Although we've ordered a few different entrees here, the ones that have ended up being our favorite are their combos. You can get 2 eggs, waffle/french toast/pancakes, choice of meats, hash browns, and fruit for 82 pesos ($4.39 US). Not once have I been able to finish my entire breakfast here. They also have another similar combo for 90 pesos which includes a coffee.

Definitely check out Fredy's Tucan while in Vallarta. Expect there to be a wait for a table, but once inside, the service is excellent! They speak both Spanish and English well here, so communication shouldn't be a problem if you're good with either of those languages.

The Pancake House

The Pancake House is the most affordable restaurant of the three on this list. We've eaten here twice and I've yet to finish my meal either time, so in addition to being affordable, the portions are generous. Our latest meals there were 59 pesos and 68 pesos, or $3.16 and $3.64 USD.

You'll find mostly gringos eating at the other two restaurants. While The Pancake House also caters to a lot of vacationers and expats, you'll see many more Mexicans eating here.

It's worth mentioning that some of their food here is prepped in advance, so they're not able to cater to allergies as much as the other two restaurants. For example, their hash browns are prepared with onions in advance. My girlfriend has an onion allergy, so she wasn't able to get the hash browns that she wanted.

All three of these restaurants are in pretty close proximity to one another and all are worth a visit. We've found a lot of restaurants in Puerto Vallarta to be deceitful, give us high gringo prices, or straight up lie to us, so it's refreshing to find some restaurants that are very straightforward. You won't find any deceitful tactics at these restaurants; they are all honest, have great food, and excellent prices.
