Turmeric rice in Sumatra is usually from glutinous rice, but in Java Island from ordinary rice. Cooking it, some are dipanwet in a pot or diliwet, there is cooked in the dandang.
If it will be cooked in the dandang, then the rice is immersed in water with turmeric, mixed with garlic + pecan which has been ground. Cooked like cooking rice. In order to smell the sweet turmeric rice, put pandan leaves into the water dandang.
Thick saute boil, salt and lemon a little, so the rice shiny.
After cooked rice, rice dipped into pasu or nyiru which is leafed with leaves, sprinkled with coconut milk, good to be respected. It was steamed seaweed once boiling. This rice will last two, three days.
