Hello my Steemit friends!
After the passage of the recent cyclone, which caused quite a lot of damage on the plantation farms in Mauritius, it is inevitable that the prices of all fresh vegetables will rise very much in the days to come...well it has already started rising!!!
Each time a cyclone comes near Mauritius the same thing happen...so for some weeks I will not be seeing the lovely vegetables I was getting in the markets...let me show you some photos of them before the coming of the cyclone...those were beautiful days!!!
Two weeks back, these christophinia were less than $1 one kg...and now they are already at $2! And the price will rise more soon!
For the next month or two, it will be nearly impossible to find fresh herbs...the damages caused by rain, winds and gusts have been not nice for herbs in general!
After the passage of a cyclone, one must be really rich to be able to afford peppers and other fresh top quality vegetables!
And what to say about pineapples!!?? Better wait for the price to drop...selling at $3 one piece...quite expensive for us as they were recently at $0.5 one!
Tomatoes play such an important part in Mauritian cuisine and these days we just don't have any solution other than using the canned ones!
I have already prepared myself to spend some very hard weeks ahead before that everything comes back to normal! I just hope that we don't get some further bad weather in the coming days/weeks!
I will post the latest prices of fruits and vegs post cyclone in the coming days! Some prices will really shock a lot I am sure!
