Apple Gourd is also called as Baby Indian Pumpkin, Indian Pumpkin or Tindi. Tinda is a popular local vegetable in India. The plant is also known as the Indian apple gourd and is a member of the family of the squash family. The size of the vegetables is small and looks like the cross between a green apple and a pumpkin. Tinda is very popular in northern India and Pakistan and continues to grow in Southern California, selling at farmers' markets and Asian grocery stores.
