So my mushroom ragu that I made was for this! It's a steak Diane inspired burger which I call it 'The Diane'. Although it's not a classic steak Diane sort of mushroom topping, I decided to have it named that to pay tribute to where I got the inspiration from for this burger.
A lot have asked me what a steak Diane is. It's not common and very rare to find a steak Diane here in Malaysia so it's the name is unfamiliar to most. Many thing it's inspired by a girl or something. haha.
So a steak diane is basically a piece of steak that has a creamy mushroom sort of topping on it. It originated from America so yeah, American cuisine and American burger, perfect pairing.
This burger that I made doesn't quite have the same notes as an authentic steak Diane as my ragu has a lot of Indian inspired spices.
It has lots of onions, garlic, mushrooms of course and over 15 different herbs and spices as well as cream cheese and full cream milk.
All of these mushroomy goodness is topped on our cheeseburger of 80/20 beef to fat ratio quarter pounder smashed patties with American cheese and lettuce sandwiched between locally made wholemeal buns. The burger is creamy and full of flavor and for any mushroom or cheese lovers, this is a burger you'll definitely love.
This is last month I'll be having 'The Diane' and it'll be making way in December for some Christmas specials!
