Who would have guessed that the busiest night of the year for KFC was going to be Mother's Day? Which is actually coming up soon on May 14th here in the U.S. The fast food company has employed an unusual marketing tactic this go around in order to try and advertise for Mother's Day, by opting to release a romance novel that is free to download online.
The book, which was released a few days ago, is titled Tender Wings Of Desire and it's 96 pages long, and currently trending in the number 1 spot in the Kindle Store for Kindle Short Reads.
The story is said to be the work of an outsourced author by the name of Catherine Kovach and they are hoping that the KFC romance book campaign is going to help fuel a rush of demand for their famous chicken dinners this coming Mother's Day. After all, the company says that Mother's Day is by far the busiest day of the year for them.
Because of the popularity surrounding the day, the company says that this year they are giving moms the “ultimate gift” with the Tender Wings of Desire story.
It's estimated that KFC serves roughly 370,000 families every single year on Mother's Day. Some of their most busiest restaurant locations on that day are located in places like Topeka, Kan, Charleston, Oh, Bluefield, Va, and Erie, Penn.
To this day the KFC chicken recipe is still regarded as a top kept secret. The recipe is said to currently be locked away safely at the KFC headquarters. Despite the secrecy surrounding the exact ingredients, many folks have tried to replicate it throughout the years. It's believed to be a unique blend of at least 11 different herbs and spices.
KFC isn't the only one that is going to be offering deals this Mother's Day either, there are usually plenty of other deals to be found too at places like Baskin Robbins, Morton's Steakhouse, Chicken Salad Chick, and many other places.
Last year it was estimated that about 85 percent of Americans took part in celebrating the holiday and the average that they spent on gifts was around $172 on common items like jewelry, flowers, and clothing.
Total spending for the holiday this year is expected to reach somewhere around $23 billion which would top the record from last year that was around $21.4 billion.
