Ingredients:
• 1 glass of raw almonds
• 3 cups of water (750 ml)
• Cinnamon, cardamom, vanilla, etc. (to taste)
Steps to follow
1.- Soak the almonds in water (mineral or bottle) for at least 4 hours (you don´t need to strictly remove the skin)
2.- Introduce the cleaned almonds in a blender, pour the three cups of water and liquify everything for a few minutes. If you do not have a blender you can use a normal blender, but keep in mind that it will take longer, even if the result is practically the same. You must beat until there are no remains of almonds, but a paste. At this time you can add the aroma that you like to intensify the flavor of your homemade almond milk and keep beating. It is not mandatory but it will give a different touch. You can use cinnamon, vanilla, whatever you want.
3.- Once you have the mixture well beaten, it is time to strain it to obtain almond milk. To do this, you will need a container and a fabric or fine mesh sieve, preferably the first one. If you do not have any of these strainers, you can use an organic cotton bag, a thin cloth of clean cotton or gauze. If you use the cloth, cotton cloth or gauze, you should place it in a common colander, and this over the container.
Simply put the strainer over the container and pour the mixture into it. The process of brewing milk will take a few minutes since the pasta that was left of the almonds is quite thick. To accelerate the process, take a spoon and move the mixture little by little.
4.- When you have the homemade milk, you can use the leftover pasta for almond sauce, cookies, cereal bars, or any recipe with almonds. You already have your almond milk made! As you can see, it is a very simple process and does not require many ingredients. You should know that this milk does not last for many days, so I recommend that you keep it in jars or glass bottles with airtight seal and consume it before 3 days.
