Lunch at Spasso @ MyTown

Me and my wife don't get to dine out often because it is not always convenient to bring a baby along. I have promised the missus a nice meal out for some time now, and since baby Emperor Evan just turned two and has somewhat learned to behave himself, I thought today was a good day as any to make good on that promise.

We elected to make it a lunch date to avoid the evening crowd, and made MyTown mall our destination of choice to hunt for our meal. Spasso Restaurant & Bar is a located on the Ground floor of MyTown mall, a restaurant that serves Italian cuisines with a Spanish twist, alongside a decent list of alcoholic beverages and coffee varieties. Needless to say, this joint is non-halal as it serves pork dishes and liquor.

We reached the restaurant roughly just before 2pm expecting the lunch crowd, but was pleasantly surprised because it was devoid of any customers. Well, pleasant for us anyway because we get to enjoy the peace and quiet as well as full attention of the waiting staff.....Probably much less pleasant for the proprietor of the restaurant.

We were presented with a menu with a lot of words I did not understand (what the heck is a confit?!).

Luckily my wife is a bit more well-verse with food-related jargon, although we finally settled with items with less exotic names.

Classic Spaghetti Carbonara with bacon. The portion pictured above is actually lifted out of a larger platter that is more than enough to feed an adult.

Classic Cheese burger with caramelized onion and cheddar cheese with beef patty (you can also choose pork patty)

I ordered a Iced Caffe Latte which is not pictured here.

Overall the food is quite decent, better than we expected actually. The shop is just next to one of the mall's entrance that is facing an open air atrium so it is well lit with natural sunlight, but the ambience is somewhat spoiled by the noise from an event being held in the atrium outside.
