Yangon Myanmar Airport Breakfast for Dinner dailyfoodphotography

I was in Yangon Myanmar last week to get my new Thai Visa, and had my most expensive meal in months while waiting for my flight in the Yangon Airport. All that you see here was $8.20 usd.

This meal is from Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, a California based chain of coffee shops. Even though I lived in California for over 20 years, I have never been in one before.

My airport choice was either this place or a very expensive bar nearby that also sold snacks. Once I was past security and near my gate, these were the only two options I had.

Why was I eating expensive breakfast for dinner in the Myanmar Airport? Poor planning and a change in events.

I usually do not eat much on these Visa trips. I bring food from Thailand and seek my normal bbq meat on a stick, nuts, seeds, and fruit. I did not do well shopping in Yangon and only had found some breadfruit that was long gone.

By the time I got to the airport, I was starving. Then the bad news came:

Oops! My flight was delayed by three hours and I caved. I could see my gate from this restaurant and so they got me.

The best thing I can tell you about this expensive meal was that is was very delicious. The sausages, eggs, and coffee were all top notch. I even ate the salad after scraping off all that dressing to the best of my abilities. And white bread toasted! That’s the first time I’ve eaten white bread in many years. Not worth it, but at least it had some calories.

Importantly, I was sitting in a comfortable chair instead of the hard airport gate seats for three hours. I only got one free hour of wifi, and spent the rest of the time sorting photos for future steemit posts.

You have to do what you have to do when it’s midnight and you should be already back home in bed.
