COCOA BUNS - Outback Steakhouse Copycat Honey Wheat Bread
Ingredients:
▪ 1 1/2 cups warm water (105’F)
▪ 1 tablespoon sugar
▪ 2 1/4 teaspoon instant dry yeast
▪ 2 cups bread flour
▪ 1 3/4 cups who wheat flour
▪ 2 tablespoon cocoa powder
▪ 2 teaspoon instant coffee
▪ 1 teaspoon salt
▪ 2 tablespoon butter, softened
▪ 1/4 cup honey
▪ 3 tablespoon brown sugar
▪ dark brown food coloring (optional)
Instructions:
- Mix together the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Set aside for 5 minutes to proof (until it looks bubbly).
- In your stand mixer, mix together all ingredients. Then knead on medium speed for 8 to 10 minutes. Dough is thicker than a standard white bread, it will be a little tacky.
- Place dough in a large bowl coated with oil. Make sure to turn the dough in the bowl so all sides are coated with oil, so dough do not get hard.
- Cover and place in a warm, draft free area. Let dough rise until it is double in size, about 1 hr.
- Once dough is doubled, punch the dough and let it rest for 2 min. Divide dough into 16 pieces. Roll dough and cover with towel and let rise until double in size again.
- Lightly wet top of rolls and sprinkle on oats (optional).
- Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 to 25 minutes.
- When done baking brush top of bread with butter.
