Furikake Party Mix
Chex party mix with Asian Hawaiian twist. Once you start eating you can't stop. Great gift idea also or appetizer for your Holiday party.
Ingredients:
▪ 1 box Rice Chex cereal
▪ 1 box Honey Comb cereal
▪ 1 box Honey Nut O’s cereal
▪ 1 bag original Bugles
▪ 1 bag Arare mix (bite size Japanese cracker made from glutinous rice and flavored with soy sauce) or substitute with 1 bag of pretzel.
▪ 1 bag Iso Peanuts (peanuts in a crisp cracker shell which lightly sweetened)
▪ 2 bottles of Furikake (dry Japanese condiments consist of dried seaweeds , sesame seeds..usually found in Asian store)
▪ 1 cup butter (2 sticks)
▪ 1 cup sugar
▪ 1 cup light Corn syrup
▪ 3 tablespoon Aloha Soy sauce
▪ 3 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
▪ 3 tablespoon Tapatio Hot Sauce (optional but it add kick to your party mix
Directions:
▪ Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
▪ In a small saucepan, combine butter, sugar, corn syrup, and oil. Heat over medium, stirring until the sugar dissolve and butter melts.
▪ Remove from heat and stir in soy sauce, Worcestershire and Tapatio.
▪ Pour Chex, honey comb, honey o’s, and bugles in a large roasting pan.
▪ Stir sauce well and pour over the Chex mix and stirring well to evenly distribute and coat Chex mix.
▪ Place in oven and every 15 minutes stir to continue to coat the Chex mix
▪ After the first stirring, sprinkle the 2 bottles of Furikake over the Chex mix, stir well.
▪ Continue to bake and stir every 15 minutes, until the sauce has completely evaporated, about 45 minutes to an hour.
▪ On the last 15 minutes add and mix in Arare and Iso peanuts.
▪ Let cook completely and serve.
Store in airtight container or Ziplock bags.
