It is an incredible day and an epic weekend in the Garden of Eden, and we are giving thanks for more than enough of everything in this abundant life of freedom!  

We celebrated @quinneaker's birthday last night with a fantastic Angels & Demons party! When we recharge from the 36+ hours of festivities, we will have lots of awesome photos, costumes, stories, and foods to share with you from this memorable event. It was truly one for the books!

We're really great at party prep, and it's a fun variation from our day to day routines. We happily come together to clean and prepare our space, set up lighting, run sound, assemble party favors, do costuming, and make a fabulous spread. 

As with all of our projects, we stay focused until the job is done! This means that rather than take time to prepare our daily sustainable dinner spread for our full time volunteers, we enjoyed light snacks to fuel us through party set up. 

For today's sustainable feast post, we want to share some of the creative sandwiches we created from our pre-party snack table!

We have tons of food, which is just one reason we LOVE to share it!! We set out meats, cheeses, veggies, spreads, dips, condiments, pickles, and breads and let everyone go to town putting together something they loved.

This sandwich has uncured pastrami, hummus, lettuce, and homemade kimchi on whole wheat bread.

This is a flour tortilla smeared with pesto, with a hard boiled egg, white cheddar cheese, sliced peppers, and sun dried tomatoes with a sprinkling of fresh herbs.

This sandwich has roast beef, swiss, whole grain mustard, tomatoes, sliced onions, and lettuce on gluten free wheat bread with a side of jalapeño potato chips. 

This sandwich has sautéed onions, mushrooms, peppers, and squash with orange cherry tomatoes, hard boiled eggs, and mayo on whole grain bread with salt & pepper potato chips. 

It was a simple meal, and it gave us plenty of fuel to get through party prep! Stay tuned, because we're sharing the party spread in an upcoming post! 

Food is important, and we hope to inspire people to really take time to eat, enjoy it, and share it with someone you love. We also hope to inspire more and more sustainable practices in regards to food! 

We do all of our cooking over fire, using wood that was otherwise destined to end up in a landfill! This is our indoor wood burning stove in action - it cooks our food, warms our communal space, and heats water for hot showers all at the same time!
