Today's Sustainable Tilapia Feast in the Garden of Eden

in food •  7 years ago

It is another fabulous day in the Garden of Eden, and we are giving thanks for more than enough of everything in this abundant life of freedom!

We made a delicious feast for our volunteers today, cooking over fire on our rocket stoves in our sustainable outdoor kitchen! As usual, there was more than enough food for everyone, and we are happy to share our abundance with you.

Today we prepared grilled tilapia with creamy, dreamy hollandaise sauce, Thai purple sticky rice, steamed asparagus, and garden salad with homemade kimchi!

We started with a lovely garden salad with mixed greens and we topped it with our homemade kimchi! This is an incredible and healthful ferment of cabbage, carrots, radishes, onions, and garlic in a spicy sauce, and we make big batches of it in giant ceramic crocks.

It takes a few weeks for the veggies to soften to our taste, and the flavor gets better and better the longer it sits! While each batch fills multiple jars, this doesn't last long in our community. Most of us like to eat it with every meal!

We made a delicious side dish of sautéed asparagus with onions and garlic topped with lemon juice and slivered almonds.

For our main dish, we made a large platter of grilled herbed tilapia. This light, white fish is a good source of B vitamins along with protein, phosphorus, and selenium.

We drizzled our incredible, decadent homemade hollandaise sauce over both the asparagus and the fish to dank it up with a creamy, smooth texture and a rich, luscious flavor!

We rounded out our meal with Thai purple sticky rice and made sure to garnish with lots of fresh cilantro to keep our bodies nice and healthy! As you may know, the Earth's waterways are extremely polluted, and seafood has a high chance of contamination from heavy metals and other toxins. Cilantro is an amazing and delicious herb that has the added benefit of helping to pull heavy metals out of the body! Whole foods for the win!!

Food is important, and we hope to inspire people to really take time to eat, enjoy it, and share it with someone you love. We also hope to inspire more and more sustainable practices in regards to food!

Delicious 😋

Where do you source your tilapia?

And... do you share recipes?

Tilapia farming may be sustainable, but it produces toxic fish. Dr Axe has a good intro into the topic: https://draxe.com/eating-tilapia-is-worse-than-eating-bacon/

So delicious, nutritious and sustainable!
