Today's Sustainable Feast in the Garden of Eden

in food •  7 years ago

It is another wonderful day in the Garden of Eden, and we are giving thanks for more than enough of everything in this abundant life of freedom!

We made a delicious feast for our volunteers and special guests today, and because we have below freezing weather we prepared the food indoors on our wood burning stove rather than on the rocket stoves of our sustainable outdoor kitchen! We stayed nice and toasty, had a fantastic meal, AND heated water for showers for super sustainable efficiency. As usual, there was more than enough food for everyone, and we are happy to share our abundance with you!

Today we made a great ham feast with creamy mashed potatoes, pineapple and fruit sauce, and cauliflower casserole!

Taking the time to make a lovely plate with a little bit of everything makes the delicious, sustainable, wholesome food taste even better!  We enjoy beautiful presentations and really enjoy adding these special little touches to our meals.

We started today's feast with a great, fresh salad. We piled strawberries, broccoli, cauliflower, onions, and carrots on a bed of mixed greens for a wonderful serving of raw life force energy!

For our main course, we baked a huge spiral sliced honey ham. One of these is big enough for our whole community! Depending on how much meat people want to eat on a particular day, sometimes we even have leftovers for sandwiches or to throw in a casserole or pot of beans.

We have meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans in our community, although most of us choose to tune into what our body needs each day rather than stick hard and fast to labels. We honor everyone's dietary preferences! We have plenty of food on offer for everyone.

We made a beautiful pineapple fruit sauce with lemongrass, ginger, raspberries and apple to top the ham. Salty ham and sweet fruit is a classic flavor combination, but we serve the sauce on the side for those who want a little bit more or a little bit less.

We also made a small bowl of chopped garlic in olive oil to add super flavor to anything anyone wanted to drizzle it on. Garlic is yummy, and it's also full of all kinds of healthful, antimicrobial compounds! Including a little garlic (especially raw garlic) at every meal is a yummy way to keep the body strong and healthy in these cold winter months.

As a side, we made an excellent cauliflower casserole that also used up some of our leftovers! This has cauliflower, cream, onions, celery, carrots, heavy cream, cubed ciabatta bread, and American cheese cooked together in a Dutch oven.

For another side, we prepared vegan mashed potatoes with nutritional yeast, liquid aminos, and garden chives. We use a bit of the potato cooking water to mash them up.

For those of us who enjoyed a bit of dairy in today's diet, we also made creamy mashed potatoes with whole milk, sour cream, garlic and salt.

It was another big, delicious, sustainable, free feast for 20 people! Everyone had plenty to eat, and we enjoyed the meal together to wrap up another lovely day.

Food is important, and we hope to inspire people to really take time to eat, enjoy it, and share it with someone you love. We also hope to inspire more and more sustainable practices in regards to food!

Everything looks pure. Sometimes, I think we've lost the purity of life and that's why we have mechanized lives. From food to makeup, everything looks unreal. I'm not against the scientific progress rather I'm talking about the disconnect of this modernization* with the core of human life. At the end of the day, all this progress is by man and for man but what we see in actuality is man is suffering from more diseases with every passing day. The negative side has dominated with this advancement in science and technology. So, what do we lack? Can you answer this question @gardenofeden?

In truth, lack is a mindset.
We live in an abundant universe that supplies more than enough of everything.
But because humans are programmed to see the world through a "lack" filter, modern humans seem to think that there is never enough. They compete with one another over "scarce" resources and sever the bonds that join us as human family. They search and search and search and run from one thing to another to try to fill these base, animal drives because they are scared of not having enough food, shelter, water, love, whatever - because all they can perceive in the current paradigm is lack.
It's a state of mind - tune into abundance, and receive the infinite blessings of the universe.
It's that simple...and it's that hard.
Blessings, @ugetfunded~

Delicious food for steem community. Great job done by @gardenofeden. Thanks

I am hugry :)

You're welcome!

It looks so pure and delicious. I thank God for people like you @gardenofeden cz it's good for people to know not just the essence of food but the essence of sharing and unity. Since I joined steemit, I have seen purity of unity. No negativity, only ENCOURAGEMENT, enlightenment, information unlike the other social media platforms where cyber bullying is the order of the day (don't get me wrong, they are all important and fun) . And to top it off, with steady and focused research, you can educate yourself and someone else out there and still be paid for it. It's just food but it goes beyond that!. Thanks @gardenofeden once again. 👍 meanwhile, my tummy is sending me some hunger signals 😩😂😉

Awesome that you see the more important facets of the meal @kellyval95!
Yes, Steemit is a revolutionary platform that is building a real community of thinkers and doers.
There are trolls on here, but they don't last long because this community does not reward that kind of behavior.
And by sharing real values, we are changing the world!

Wao, looks nice, can you teach me on how to make that. Thanks

Of course! We share lots of cooking tips and recipes in our daily sustainable feast posts. Is there something in specific you want to know how to make @etilda?

It seems delicious, I wish we could do that in my country for people that cant get even a food at day 😬nice post

We wish that for all people too. It would be wonderful if human beings valued taking care of one another and shared the resources we already have in great abundance. It's up to us as individuals to be the change!

You guys are really enjoying in this garden.

Every day!

OMG! Quite a feast yall gat going there wish I was there oh! But the distance between us lol, but please @gardenofeden if you could just ship me the ham would be really glad just the ham 😋.

There's more than enough for everyone!

Awesome I'll be over for dinner my friend lol

Looks like another great meal! Have you ever tried putting parsnips in your mashed potatoes? My wife and I tried it a few weeks ago and it's delicious. I don't have the recipe as we were eating at a restaurant, but it's something that I'm going to try to recreate soon. Anyhow, there's my tip for the day.

Yes parsnips are excellent in mashed potatoes! We have also been known to sneak in some turnips, or even to stir in greens like kale! We're big potato eaters around here, and it's nice to mix it up sometimes. Thanks for the tip @themanwithnoname!

Wow! This looks like my kind of eating. I know I would enjoy this healthy meal.
