Yucca skin?
At least at some point in their lives, it has crossed their minds what to do with the shell or skin of cassava or yucca. However, before throwing them away to think twice because it can be used for more than just fertilizer. Cassava being an excellent food full of protein, minerals, vitamins, and low fat, cassava is extremely versatile, being possible to take full advantage of its benefits and even combine it with any other food. In this occasion, I bring you homemade and really economic Chips with the skin of this wonderful tuber. If you want to know how just keep reading.
Ingredients
- Frying oil
- Salt & pepper
- Yucca or cassava
- Spices (Optional)
Preparation
- First wash the cassava with your hands, scrubbing it to remove all dirt and impurity, and set aside.
- Using a knife to remove the brown part of the skin without reaching the white flesh.
- Separate the skin from the cassava and set aside.
- Wash again to remove any brown traces of skin.
- Cut to taste. This time it was in rectangles.
- Fry in very hot oil, add condiments, mix well and enjoy.
- If the oil is too cold, the cassava will become oily..
- Crispness and taste will depend on cooking time.
- If wheat flour is added before frying, the taste will change..
