Classification of the wine

Wines can be classified primarily by the grape variety used to make the wine and the region where the grapes are grown. Wines classified on the basis of grape variety are called varietals and those classified on the basis of region are named by the region itself.

There are different types of wines and wine styles. Basically wines can be classified into two general categories. They are white wines which are colorless and red wines which have the color intensity based on the soaking time. This is the information that most of us know. But wines can be classified by their taste also. The sweetness of the wine helps us to judge the wine by its taste. Classification of the wine according to the taste is as follows:
Dry wines, Medium Wines, Sweet wines.
